Philippines to host 6th ASEAN School Games

The Philippines will host the 6th ASEAN School Games (ASG) on December this year through the Department of Education (DepEd) and Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) to be held from November 29 to December 7 in Marikina City. 

Aiming to promote solidarity among youth through sports, ASEAN School Games is an annual sporting event for ASEAN schools. It also seeks to provide opportunities for school athletes to benchmark their sporting talents and encourage cultural exchange among the participants. 

Student athletes of the participating countries of Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Brunei Darrussalam, Malaysia, Laos, The Philippines and Thailand will compete in different sporting events including: athletics, swimming, badminton, golf, sepak takraw, gymnastics, table tennis, basketball, volleyball and wushu. 

The 5th ASEAN School Games was held in Hanoi, Vietnam where Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand came as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd top placers respectively.
