Quiz show, singing competition highlight ASEAN Day at Phitsanulok Pittayakom School

PHITSANULOK . ASEAN Quiz Show and Singing competition highlighted the annual celebration of ASEAN Day at Phitsanulok Pittayakom School on Friday, August 25. A total of 17 schools from different districts of Phitsanulok participated in the event which formally opened with a parade of the 10 ASEAN nations. Students from the English Program Department of the school represented the countries wearing their national costumes and carrying their flags. Speaking to the students and teachers, Dr. Manop Ketmek, school director of Phitsanulok Pittayakom School underscored the significance of getting to know each ASEAN member countries. "We should learn about ASEAN and the 10 countries to be able to live harmoniously with them," he said. LOOK: Two-Day Campus Journalism Workshop Winners

Phitsanulok, THAILAND  - A total of thirty three (33) students from Grade 9 to 12 participated in a two-day campus journalism training and workshop, June 10-11 2017, at the ASEAN Room of Naresuan Building in Phitsanulok Pittayakom School. For two days, the EP students underwent intensive training with lectures on the following: Editorial Writing with Mr. Nicfranz De Los Reyes, Feature Writing with Mr. John Patrick Benliro, News Writing with Mr. Lorenzo M. Young aspiring writers undergo Campus Journalism workshops in Phitsanulok

Phitsanulok, THAILAND - Aspiring campus journalists of Phitsanulok Pittayakom School - English Program underwent a two-day training and workshop on Campus Journalism over the weekend, June 10-11, 2017, held at the ASEAN Room of Naresuan Building.  A total of thirty three (33) students from Grade 9 to 12, most of whom had no background about campus journalism, participated in the workshop which was officially opened by Dr. Manop Ketmek, School Director of Phitsanulok Pittayakom School, in the morning of June 10. Phitsanulok Pittayakom School mourns the loss of an exchange student who died of drowning in the US

PHITSANULOK, Thailand – In July last year, Sirawich “Jo” Chantaburanan, 18, a Matayom 5 student of Phitsanulok Pittayakom School English Program excitedly left for the United Sates of America for the Rotary Club exchange program. In few weeks time, he together with the other 7 Thai students who took part in the program was due to return home. HERO. Sirawich “Jo” Chantaburanan (center) drowned at a beach in North Carolina USA while trying to save a friend in distress.  But a tragic accident on Tuesday, June 6, will send Jo home much earlier than expected to a heartbroken family, teachers, friends, and classmates. He drowned while trying to save his friend at a beach in North Carolina. Phitsanulok, Thailand - The English Program students of Phitsanulok Pittayakom School are undergoing a two-day Science Camp at school with Canadian and Filipino scientists.  The camp officially opened early morning today, May 30, at the Chaiyanuphap Hall attended by the school administrators and the EP teachers and staff. Dr. Manop Ketmak, Phitsanulok Pittayakom School director said the camp will help the participants develop their knowledge about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.  Addressing the 150 participants from Matayom 3, 4, 5 and 6 classes, the director added "I hope you will take this opportunity to learn as much as you can because this is a rare chance for you to study with international experts." Telecommunication is another sector of ASEAN infrastructure which is undergoing continuous enhancement. In 2012, ASEAN telecommunication regulators announced the intention to reduce international mobile roaming rates within ASEAN. Malaysia and Singapore were the first Member States to make a bilateral agreement to reduce the mobile roaming rates charged by their respective providers. BORDER MEET HELD AHEAD OF LARGE PROTEST

PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA. Cambodian and Vietnamese officials yesterday met at the Council of Ministers to discuss rising border tensions, as villagers in Tbong Khmum province again reported Vietnamese authorities had destroyed crops in the disputed area. Officials declined to reveal details of yesterday’s Joint Border Committee meeting, called to discuss recent tensions and ongoing border demarcation. Concluding tomorrow, the talks, involving 25 officials from both sides, are led by Cambodia’s senior minister in charge of border affairs, Va Kim Hong, and his Vietnamese counterpart, Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Ho Xuam Son. The talks were prompted by alleged Vietnamese encroachment in Kandal and Ratanakkiri provinces and a violent clash between an opposition-led group and Vietnamese authorities in Svay Rieng on June 28. The competing teams with three members will have 15 minutes to answer it. Both the score and the time used by the teams will affect their ranking. Only 10 teams will advance to the second part. Every year, ASEAN changes its chairmanship according to the alphabetical order of the English names of the 10 Member States. Whoever assumes the chairmanship shall uphold the responsibilities of hosting the annual ASEAN related summits and council meetings.
